About

Every World Deserves to Be Read

Somewhere in your favourite game there is writing you can't read. It scrolls across an enchanting table, glows on a datapad, or sits carved above a tomb in Moria, and it's doing something quietly wonderful: it's insisting that this world existed before you arrived.

Krunes exists to hand you the key. We collect the scripts, spoken tongues, ciphers and codes of games, films and legend, thirty-eight so far, and turn them into instant, beautiful translators. True ciphers like the Standard Galactic Alphabet and Al Bhed decode in both directions. Scripts without fonts, like Aurebesh and Tengwar, are hand-drawn as vector glyphs you can download and keep. And Simlish, which refuses to be an alphabet at all, gets the playful generator it deserves.

What makes Krunes different

It respects the source. Al Bhed uses the exact cipher from Final Fantasy X. Ogham comes wrapped in its traditional feather marks. Rune names, letter names and the history behind each script are on every language page, because the story is half the magic.

It's instant. Everything runs in your browser as you type. No accounts, no uploads, no waiting.

It teaches. The Glyph Trainer turns each alphabet into a game, so you can stop translating and start reading.

A note on accuracy

Fictional scripts live in screenshots, wikis and fan devotion, and some (like Tengwar's full tehtar system) are far deeper than a letter-for-letter mapping can capture. Krunes uses the community-standard letter modes that fans actually share, and our drawn glyph sets are lovingly stylised renditions built for clarity at any size. Spot something a lore-master would wince at? Tell us, we'll fix it.
