About Klingon

Qapla’! Klingon is the most complete constructed language in screen history, linguist Marc Okrand built tlhIngan Hol with deliberately alien grammar, and it now has opera, Hamlet and Sesame Street translations. Its written form is pIqaD: blade-sharp glyphs that look like they were forged, not written.

True Klingon is a language, for vocabulary and grammar, the Klingon Language Institute is the deep end. Krunes gives you the script: your words rendered letter-by-letter in warrior glyphs worthy of a bat’leth engraving.

  • Marc Okrand designed Klingon with rare object-verb-subject word order to feel alien.
  • “Qapla’” means success, the all-purpose Klingon salute.
  • The Klingon Language Institute has published Hamlet “in the original Klingon”.
  • pIqaD was standardised by fans and is even in the ConScript Unicode Registry.
