The Story
About Binary
Binary is the only language every computer truly speaks: ones and zeros, current on and current off. Each character of your text is stored as a number, here rendered as classic 8-bit ASCII, one byte per letter.
Binary strings are the oldest Easter egg in gaming and film: robot dialogue in Futurama, wall textures in Portal, and the credits of half the hacker movies ever made hide messages this way. Paste any of them here to decode.
- “01001000 01101001” spells “Hi”.
- One byte (8 bits) can represent 256 different characters.
- Futurama’s robot graffiti and Bender’s dreams are riddled with binary jokes.
- Krunes decodes any spaced 8-bit binary back into readable text.
