About Quenya
Quenya is the “Elf-latin” of Middle-earth, the ancient, ceremonial tongue of the Elves who saw the light of Valinor. It rings through Galadriel’s lament Namárië, the greeting “Elen síla lúmenn’ omentielvo”, a star shines on the hour of our meeting, and half the beautiful names in the legendarium.
Like Sindarin, Quenya is a true constructed language with Finnish-inspired grammar. Krunes translates word-by-word from Tolkien’s attested lexicon and generates High-elven styled forms for the rest, clearly a scholar’s aid, not Galadriel’s own grammar. Write the result in Tengwar for the full effect.
