About Sindarin
Sindarin is the everyday Elvish of Middle-earth, the language of “Mae govannen” and of the word mellon that opened the gates of Moria. Tolkien built it with a full grammar inspired by Welsh, and it is the Elvish you hear most in the films.
A word of scholarly honesty: Sindarin is a real constructed language, and proper translation needs grammar, mutations and word order. Krunes translates word-by-word using Tolkien’s attested vocabulary, over sixty core words, and marks the gap with consistent Elvish-styled forms for words Tolkien never gave us. For inscriptions, pair it with the Tengwar script.
