About Noldorin
Before Sindarin, there was Noldorin. In the 1930s and 40s Tolkien developed the Elvish tongue of the Noldor in his Etymologies, a sprawling root-by-root lexicon. He later revised its history and reshaped it into the Sindarin of The Lord of the Rings, but Noldorin survives as a rich, distinct language in its own right.
