D’ni Script Translator
Write English in D’ni-style script, the writing of the cavern civilisation from Myst and Riven. The Art of linking, one glyph at a time.
About D’ni
Deep beneath New Mexico, the D’ni carved a civilisation into a cavern the size of a city, and wrote its history in journals whose Ages you could literally fall into. Their boxy, deliberate script fills the linking books, classroom slates and stone halls of Myst, Riven and Uru.
D’ni is a genuine constructed language, built by Cyan’s Richard A. Watson with grammar, vocabulary and a famously elegant base-25 number system. Krunes renders your words letter-by-letter in chamber-script style, for full D’ni vocabulary, the fan archives of the Guild of Linguists await.
- D’ni numerals are base-25, a puzzle in Riven teaches you to count in them.
- Richard A. Watson (“RAWA”) built D’ni as a complete language for Cyan.
- “Shorah” is the standard D’ni greeting, peace.
- The D’ni measured time in their own units; fans still maintain working D’ni clocks.
